CWP Renewables and GE Renewable Energy are once again hosting a Christmas Light Up competition in Yass, Boorowa and surrounds, and entries are now open.

This year, GE is giving away more than $2,000 worth of prizes, with entries open to all properties within the Yass Valley local government area, as well as Boorowa district, including Frogmore, Muringo, Rye Park, and Rugby.

Iain Blair, GE’s Project Manager for Bango Wind Farm, said, “2021 has been a challenging year for many in our community and it will be exciting to see homes lit up with dazzling displays once again. If you love Christmas and putting up light displays or have been waiting for an excuse to go all out, this is the perfect opportunity.

“Categories include a renewable energy display to encourage people to think about how they can celebrate in an environmentally sustainable manner,” he added.

“Many local residents and business owners go to great lengths each year to create uplifting Christmas light displays. It’s always a wonderful experience visiting local neighbourhoods and seeing the joy on people’s faces as they enjoy the displays,” said Bango Wind Farm Community Engagement Officer Lyn Diskon.

“So, jingle all the way to your store cupboard, pull out your Santas, sleds, reindeer and wreaths. Untangle those lights, pull out the inflatables, and start decorating your homes, businesses, farm gates, whatever can be lit up for Christmas.

“However, it is important to continue our social distancing when viewing Christmas lights and we strongly recommend people remain in their cars to view the area’s fantastic displays.”
